History & description
St Saviour's at Ringley is a Grade II listed church built in 1850-1854 to designs by Sharpe and Paley. The church on Fold Road is constructed in rock-faced stone with smoother dressings and a stone-slate roof.
Architecture
The nave has aisles and small quatrefoil windows in its upper walls. An octagonal turret and spire mark the west end. Inside, round columns divide the nave from the aisles, while a braced timber roof spans the main space.
Historic fittings
Historic England records royal arms dated 1637, memorials to Matthew and Ellis Fletcher, and both seventeenth- and nineteenth-century stained glass. The east end includes alabaster, mosaic and ceramic decoration. These fittings show why the age of individual objects should be distinguished from the mid-nineteenth-century date of the building itself.
